From the M6 take the A66 (junction 40) past Keswick to Cockermouth.Take the A5086 from Cockermouth towards Egremont.
After about 8 miles you pass a pub on the right called the Lamplugh Tip.
Half a mile after that turn left, signed Kirkland and Ennerdale.
Go one mile up this C road and through the village of Kirkland. Continue down the hill beyond the village of Kirkland, towards Ennerdale village.
A third of a mile beyond Kirkland take the left turn. This is marked as a no through road and has no road sign, but does have a wooden footpath sign.
Take this left turn. Hawes Farm is in the first dip, straddling the road. There is room to park and turn.
