Hawes Farm is no longer a working farm. It is situated in a hollow with a stream, surrounded by fields and trees. The lane to the farm is a narrow no-through road so there is little passing traffic. Ennerdale Lake is just over a mile away and can be reached by paths and lanes. Guests who have enjoyed it here have included walkers, artists, cyclists and ornithologists. There is off road parking and dry storage for bikes. The Shepherds Arms, in Ennerdale village does good food and is ten minutes walk.
