Grand Union News

16th July 2006: Grand Union are very pleased to have just been booked for the popular Great Western Ceilidh series for Saturday April 21st 2007. Should be a good one! Looking nearer in time, Sidmouth Folk Festival is getting ever nearer. You can dance to Grand Union there on Wednesday 9th August - either lunchtime at the Anchor Gradens, or at the Late Night Extra - or indeed both! This will be closely followed by Dartmoor Folk Festival at the weekend, where Grand Union will be playing for the Saturday evening ceilidh on 12th August. Note that as Dave Hunt is recuperating after his recent hip replacement operation, the inimitable Baz Parkes will be stepping into his calling shoes for the Dartmoor Ceilidh. We wish Dave all the best for a speedy recovery, and look forward to working with Baz again - a great and amusing caller. See our gig list for details.

Finally, you will notice a bit of a change in the line-up this year. Tim Normanton has decided to move on to other things and no longer plays his excellent banjo in Grand Union. At the same time, Kevin Bown has neglected his faithful double bass and will now be seen, and heard, seated behind the keyboards. However, it is still the same very danceable energetic Grand Union English style.

We look forward to seeing many of you again at these dances and others during the year.
