Over and out!!!

FORMULA

The equipment that I am using currently is an F2 T rex 100 and a Tushingham 11.1 Formula sail. This has proved to be an ideal combo not just for racing but for light wind cruising in the summer. The board has a flap on which I was a little dubious of at first but now absolutely love!! Tail walk has become a thing of the past - now when the gust hits the board rocks back onto the flap and just keeps accelerating. Also as the board has chamfered rails it means that jibes are no problem although if you want to plane out you have to keep the radius wide! The sail is good as it sets on a 520 mast and has a wide range of settings - full for light days and flat for nice windy ones.

WAVES

I use Ezzy wave sails - these sails are the absolute business - light / strong / fantastic looking / enormous wind range- need I go on? At the present time I have a 3 sail quiver (6.3/5.0/4.2) and this sorts me out from 12 - 50 knts! These sails really benefit from being rigged on a skinny mast (Powerex or Ezzy) as this allows them to have a little more (!) range on the outhaul and also allows the bottom of the sail to seem slightly fuller. For more details on these sails check out the HOT LINKS page and see for yourself.

The board I use in the waves is a Starboard fish 85. This is a super loose yet early planing board. When you are wallowing it feels like it is much bigger yet when you get it on a wave it feels much smaller as the thin rails grip really well - it is an ideal allround wave board for the heavier sailor. One suggestion that I would make is to get a couple of different fins to use with it. I have a 9.5" Maui Fin Co. onshore wave which is really wide across the base which helps early planing but at the same time keeps the board loose. The other fin that I rate is the Starboard fin that comes with the board - ideal for sails <5.0.
