View Point Challenge 3.5 Miles Uphill Only - 16 August 2006

     The number of competitors lining up on the start line this year were slightly down on last years record entry, however conditions were ideal for running, cool and very rare for these parts no wind. 

    Forres Harrier Robert Paterson raced off ahead of the field across Grant Park, but by the time they had passed the first mile, it was clearly evident that he was being chased down rapidly by Moray Road Runner Kyle Cowie. 

    On to the climb up by New Forres Quarry and Kyle was in the lead closely followed by team mate Robbie Cammack and Harrier Paul Rogan.  Up onto the Califer over the Killer Mile, Scottish International Hill Runner Cowie proved to be the superior climber, finishing half a minute ahead of this year's Scottish Athletics Junior Hill Race Champion Cammack. 

    Karen MacLeod of Inverness Harriers finished strongly over the latter stages of the race especially over the Killer Mile to win the Ladies race ahead of Forres Harrier's Jackie Nicol and June Duncan.
