Update October 2002
CMFA is now a company ‘Limited By Guarantee’. Registration number 224070. There is no change to our Charity status, and the management remains the same. Being ‘Limited By Guarantee’ gives members and supporters additional security also all our legal agreements will be with the company and not with any individual.

Our AGM on the 2nd of November was well attended. Over 100 members of the public visited our exhibition. We had a display of five samples of surface materials. The most popular choice was the ‘Heritage Natural Gravel’. This will now go forward for the surface finish to the Lednock Millennium Footpath. Those who were unable to attend the exhibition can see the material and colour at the ‘School Lane Footpath’, near the village hall, in Pool of Muckhart, Clackmannan-shire, or on the National Cycle Track at the Pass of Drumochter, Perthshire.

Forest Enterprise has completed felling and removal of the trees on the route of the New Access road. This will enable us to have the land surveyed and design the access road. The access road starts near the Old Burial Ground on the Milton/Balmuick road, and then winds down through the woods to the Comrie Circular Walk above the ninth tee at the north end of the golf course. The access road will be built in five sections. Three of the sections will be built as a temporary site access. On completion of the Lednock Millennium Footpath these three sections will be returned to nature with the planting of native woodland seeds. A forest footpath will be built to join up with the existing tracks on the Comrie Northern Footpath Network. The new access road will be approximately 1300 metres long.

Comrie Golf Club has declined our request for a small extension to the land adjacent to the land that they have designated for the footpath. A route has now been agreed and we will be proceeding with this new route.

The land between Comrie Golf Club and the river Lednock known as the Old Putting Green (some people call this land the old chicken farm) is owned by Mr Fraser McGregor. He supports our project and is keen to see it proceed. We will be entering into a long-term access and management agreement with Mr McGregor for this area of land. Mr McGregor wishes to see the land that will not be used for the footpath to be used for the good of the community. In keeping with Mr McGregor’s wishes we are inviting suggestions from our supporters and the Comrie Community. The land is reasonably level with trees and shrubs on the edges. The area of land is about 1.5 Acres. Can we have your suggestions?

The footpath between the Old Putting Green and the Weir on the river Lednock at the riverside is very badly eroded. Care should be taken when on this section of the footpath. We hope to have all legal agreements in place by April. We will then be able to carry out temporary repair work until we start building the Lednock Millennium Footpath.

To meet the time scale on certain grants and to protect the existing footpath from further erosion we will now be building the Lednock Millennium Footpath in stages. Stage 1 will be the lower part of the footpath along the riverside. This work will commence as soon as the access road is built.

David and Bill continue to make progress in the production of our video. Given some fair weather they will be back on site and in the village to produce more footage. If you would like to take part in this please contact Bill on telephone 01764 670547.

A board meeting will be held every 3 months which our supporters and members of the public are invited to observe. A general public meeting will follow this where all attending are invited to raise points relating to our project. Dates and times of these will be announced on our website and on the village notice board. Please do come to these meetings. It is your opportunity to have your point of view known.
