Every one is Welcome

What is our Morning Service like?

We begin with a welcome and finish the service with singing the doxology, which is a proclamation of who God is.  The service is interspersed with hymns, choruses, (which can now be suggested by the congregation), bible readings, intercessory prayers, (prayed by various members of the congregation), a children's talk and of course the sermon.  Recently, once a month, one of the elders will lead the service.  We also have services at regular intervals aimed at the 10 to 14 year olds. These can include drama, duets sung by the young people, the junior ensemble playing and talks relating to issues concerning the youth.

We generally have a choir leading the singing and the junior ensemble playing various instruments. The church choir have also provided special music at Harvest, Christmas and Easter time, in order to musically reflect God's provision.  The junior ensemble is made up of a group of young musicians consisting of violins, viola, clarinet, flute and drums.  New on the scene is the praise band with guitars and drums.  They lead the worship once a month, choosing to sing the choruses and hymns in a block, instead of being interspersed within the service.  With this variety of styles of worship the church helps to facilitate the different age groups and preference in worshipping God.

The Doxology taken from Jude 24 v 25:

Now unto Him who is able to keep

Able to keep you from falling

And present you faultless before the presence of His Glory

With exceeding joy

To the only wise God our Saviour be glory and majesty

Dominion and power both now and forever.

 Amen

The service is recorded each Sunday morning and kept for one year in the tape library, which can be on display in the Guildhall.  In addition there are quite a number of other excellent messages by various speakers. It is a great method of building up your knowledge and faith and also redeeming the time while driving the car or ironing the clothes etc!

At the end of the service every one is invited for a cup of tea/coffee/juice and biscuits in the guild hall at the back of the church.  This helps us to get to know each other and is one way of extending a warm welcome to our visitors.  Some times we have lunch together during a special event or to raise money for missionary work.

What about the Evening Service?

It is more informal - there is an opportunity for the congregation to share and to pray about different issues.  The minister will give an informative talk - recently taken from a list of topics requested by the congregation.  The first Sunday of every month is a service of prayer for healing, when people can be prayed with by particular members of the congregation, for different types of healing - from emotional to physical. This individual prayer is also available in the privacy of the person's own home, if  requested - the minister or some of the elders will pray with the anointing of oil as described in James chapter 5. Many have known blessings and healing from this ministry.
