The Rolls Royce 40/50 horsepower models were first built in 1906, these cars were the cars which earned Rolls Royce the reputation `The Best Cars In The World`. The 13th car built was finished in an all over silver finish, and due to its amazingly quiet engine was nicknamed`The Silver Ghost`.
In 1907, this car was used in an incredible 15000 mile reliability trial where it was run non stop without failure between Lands End and John O Groats. Incredibly after this gruelling marathon the car needed only minor adjustments to bring it back to as new condition. This feat proved without a doubt that Rolls Royce made the best cars in the world. Eventually Rolls Royce were to name all their 40/50HP cars `Silver Ghosts`.
Despite the fact that in their time Silver Ghosts were very advanced cars, by todays standards they are a bit basic, they didn`t have front brakes or shock absorbers, and the electronics were not up to todays motoring regulations. So we at Elite Wedding Cars have created a modern version of this classic icon. We have recreated the classic Edwardian coachwork, but slightly enlarged the seating area to provide plenty of room for our brides and bridesmaids. And we have finished it of with our `Old English White` paintwork to match our other cars.We have incorperated modern electrical and braking systems to meet safety and legal requirements, and built in an elegant drinks cabinate to keep the champagne cool. We have kept all the quality and refinement of the Edwardian car and improved it with some modern necessities.
