Welcome to Eakring Birds.co.uk

Eakring Birds.co.uk is run by Trevor and Dilys Pendleton and is an increasingly comprehensive Natural History resource for Nottinghamshire. Much of it's purpose is geared towards creating a much greater awareness of the Eakring and Kersall area's wildlife, amongst the general public.

It's original concept came back in 1998, but at that time it was only available as a printed bird report. Eakring Birds.co.uk was first published on the Internet as long ago as 1999, originally titled "The Eakring Birds Web Pages" and was dedicated to the birds found within the agricultural farmland of the Eakring and Kersall area of Nottinghamshire. An expansion of the website in 2002, included coverage of the area's butterflies, moths and dragonflies. 2005 saw the inclusion of even more insects, and now includes photographs and developing identification help for beetles, hoverflies, bees and wasps.

  • Broadband users - 2006 has seen a shift towards the increasing number of Broadband users. Broadband allows easier access to photographs and pages than a dial-up modem. There are now more photographs being used per page than previously
  • Photographs We are now using higher definition and some much larger images on the site than previously. The use of any large images is restricted through web space provided by the server and is only used to show extra detail which may be relevant to entomologists and other interested parties (the Psychidae page and some micromoths such as the Eriocranias for example)
  • Website development Eakring Birds continues to develop and expand. My wife Dilys is now becoming increasingly more involved with some of the website's daily updating and maintenance
