Charles Worthington on how to get volume ...

'In my experience, fine hair is a common trait of British women. It can be caused by one of two problems: the first when each individual hair shaft is small in diameter; and the second, which is common in slightly older women, when the hair starts to thin and there are fewer strands on the head. But no matter what the cause, the solution is the same — just combine a volumising spray that coats each strand of hair to swell it and make it appear thicker, with heated gadgets that put bend and hold into the hair to make it stay in place.'

3 steps to VOLUME

  1. Invest in a special shampoo, conditioner, volumising spray and hairspray formulated to thicken hair without weighing it down.

  2. After washing, rough dry your hair, spray volumiser into the roots and comb it through with a wide-toothed comb.

  3. To blow-dry body into fine hair invest in a metal-barrel, full-circle brush. Blow-dry each section, finish with a cold blast of air and leave to cool for a minute before removing the brush. This way the brush acts like a large-barrelled heated roller, setting a bend into each section of hair.
