“There is something infinite in painting - I cannot explain it to you so well - but it is delightful just for expressing ones feelings.” (Vincent Van Gogh)In 1998 I visited Israel, a beautiful Israel, a relatively peaceful Israel, and experienced light like never before. It mattered not what it touched, that light had a Midas touch that reached even inside my very soul.
On returning to England, desperate to capture my experiences of Israel on canvas. I began painting in gold acrylic, bought for the purpose. I had painted for many years without considering myself an artist. However, somehow this felt different, what I put on the canvas felt different, it meant something. I wandered into a small gallery in Wakefield and awaited the verdict. The gallery owner hung my little first fruit, and I was encouraged to keep painting.
With the birth and care of my two children to absorb my energy, my output has been steady, with family and friends purchasing my paintings. Recently my desire has been to keep hold of my paintings, with the aim to launch my career as an artist through an exhibition of my work.
As I live in Wakefield Yorkshire, my desire is to exhibit in the heart of my local community, involving the public as well as many local artisans and businesses. The exhibition will be a multi sensory experience, communicating to as many people as possible the wonder of faith in a world were faith is found at the heart of so much heartache and tragedy. I want to convey how faith can be a beautiful, sustaining blanket of comfort in difficult times and enable trust in the unseen dreams for the future.
