Fusillier FRANCIS BRAYBROOKE was born in Norwich Norfolk England in 1917 . His parents were GEORGE & ELIZABETH BRAYBROOKE it was ELIZABETH,S mother who was a SCOTTER. FRANCIS was a soldier in the 2nd Bat. Royal Fusilers ( City of London Regiment ) He died on the 16/5/1944 whilst fighting in Italy in the battle for MONTE CASSINO. During the early months of 1944 Cassino saw some of the fiercest fighting of the Italian campaign the town itself and the Monastry proved to be the most stubborn of obstacles on the advance to Rome. FRANCIS is buried in his own grave in Cassino War Cemetery. ROBERT BRAYBROOKE BORN 1913

ROBERT who was the brother of FRANCIS above, was a soldier in the 6th Bat. Royal Norfolk Regiment . He died on the 26/1/1942 . My own father HENRY SCOTTER witnessed the death of ROBERT it was at a place called Senggarang . On that day five officers and 112 other ranks were called upon to clear the road from Rengit to Senggarang the force was held up at a road block and the force was practically wiped out according to a report by the Regimentle R. A. ROBERT is remembered on column 49 of the Singapore war memorial in Kranji War Cemetery.

Serjeant ARCHIBALD HASTINGS was married to FLORENCE the daughter of GEORGE & SARAH LEEDER. SARAH was a SCOTTER the daughter of REUBEN whose photo is the first one on my main page. ARCHIBALD died on 19/4/1917 in the Middle East. He was a Sergeant in the 1st/ 5th. Bat. Norfolk Regiment. The Eyptian Expeditionary Force a name which covers nearly all the units which fought under the British Flag in Egypt and Palestine lost 17,000 officers and men from England . In addition many more Commonwealth soldiers died there. ARCHIBALD has no known grave he is remembered on the Jerusalem Memorial in Israel.

Corpral ROBERT RAE was the husband of EDITH ELLEN SCOTTOW they lived in Walthamstow Essex England. ROBERT served with the 2293,Bat. London Regt ( Finsbury Rifles )
ROBERT died on the 26/9/1915 aged 32 yrs. He is Remembered With Honour and he is buried in the Port Said War Memorial Cemetery in Egypt. This cemetery was begun in 1914 . From May to November 1915 the hospital in Port Said was recieving wounded troops from Gallipoli so bearing in mind the day he died it would seem probable that Robert was at Gallipoli and was either killed there or was wounded there and died from them in the Port Said Hospital ( photo of his wife Edith
