DARKFELL puppies January 2004 Lula, dam and Gelert, Sire. Date 3rd March 2004.

Hello from Christine, I have just had the privilege of visiting Liz at home in Wales with her hounds and puppies.

I was amazed at how much dedication is needed to care for a new wolfhound mum and her new litter of puppies.

Liz is on call for 24 hours of every day of every week, from a week before the pups are born until they leave to go to their new homes. All of the puppies soon found new homes.

The pups are fed 4 times a day and have about an hour each time they are awake to play with soft toys, balls, squeaky toys,

each other, mum and the other hounds, and last but not least, Zebedee the maddest cat you ever did see; he thinks he is one of the puppies. Oh and a bunch of humans too.

They certainly do have an idyllic time from dawn till dusk in the Darkfell homestead. All of the puppies are cherished by Liz. “super-wolfhound-woman” and LULA is a superb birth-mother to them all.

Lula and pups at 7 weeks.

The puppies suckle mom for a few minutes only at this age mainly just for comfort not sustenance; since they are fed solid food.
