The society was formed in 1985
when a group of friends rented a small clubroom in Cleethorpes and built a
layout named May Street Junction, early construction faults brought problems, so
in the late 1980's a new layout was planned.
After fifteen
years of working in cramped conditions, the society moved into a larger
building. We now have three '00' gauge working layouts and two 'n' gauge layouts
under construction.
On the ground
floor we have two of the club layouts erected, with storage cupboards, work
benches, and the kitchen sink. We do make time for coffee breaks. Upstairs we
have fitted more storage units and work benches, where you can repair or build
models for club or home layout. This room can also be used for meetings. We are
also building up a
useful library of books, videos and magazines.
Club nights are
every Wednesday and Friday from
7.30pm. With alternate Fridays as running nights, when we keep our hand in at operating
the layouts, (playing trains).
Other club nights are taken up
with track laying, making scenery and electrics. We do make time for coffee and a
chat about railway topics.
New members
of all ages are always welcome. For further information go to
the contacts link above. Come and meet us.
The aims of the society are to help improve everyone's modelling skills and to
promote the hobby of railway modelling.
