EAST RANFORD

East Ranford was built and exhibited by John Houlden of Retford and purchased from him
by the Cleethorpes Model Railway Society after our May 2005 exhibition.

The layout represents a fictitious town on the East Coast Main Line between Doncaster and Peterborough, as seen in the mid 1950s. All manner of trains can be seen from express and stopping passenger, also all types of freight from fully fitted, heavy mineral, to pick up goods. All hauled by model locomotives typical of the period.

With up and down fast and slow lines each with their own independent storage sidings and controllers, means that there is normally plenty of varied  trains passing through the scenic part of the layout to keep the interest of exhibition visitors.

A small goods yard and parcels depot can be seen in the station area. A locomotive shed with a turntable and coaling tower is provided for servicing both passenger and freight locomotives.
