The evening field trip was led by Ken
Brown who has researched the Cornish Beam engine and written many articles
on mining. Several members of the society turned out on this
very sunny evening for this walk.
Starting at Sara's shaft Wheal Kitty the group led by Ken
took a circular route around the area of St Agnes.
The engine house once housed a 65inch engine which was
second-hand from a mine near St Hilary.

Many stops along the route were made so Ken could
explain many of the remains of the old workings in this area |

Some members had brought along Ken's book to consult
the map which helped when looking at maps and old photos of things as they
once were Right, looking across Trevaunance Valley to the engine
house at Wheal Friendly. |
