My name is Matthew and I currently have 30 budgies, I am 16 years old, and am a member of the budgerigar society.
To be able to show your birds you need to be a member of the budgerigar society, when you become a member they will send you rings which you will have to put onto your birds to be able to show them. (Do not put rings on adult birds the rings should be added when the birds are between 4-10 days old).
I have just finished building my breeding room, I have purchased a 7'x7' shed (this is a great size for when you are starting to breed) I have insulated the shed and have run electricity out to it, there is a light which is on a timer so that the birds have a longer day and a heater which keeps the room above 10 degrees C. In terms of cages I have a indoor flight and five breeding cages on a desk at the back of the shed. This is very useful as it means that there is room to write on the front of the desk and room to make notes on the breeding behaviour of the birds. This year I have bred over 20 youngsters, however it is a bad year for many breeders, including myself for some reason many of the birds have failed to hatch or have died at a young age.
These are two male budgies a blue yellow pied and a yellow faced mauve

This is my aviary. It is a good sized aviary to start with. Notice the double door. This insures that no birds will escape when the door is opened.
