Founded in 1947, the society has been in existence for more than 50 years. Originally launched, by Mr David Chatterton, ARCA, in order that students of the Brierley Hill School of Art, of which he was principal, had an opportunity to display their work, it grew in size. It became a society which provided the opportunity for people from the community to display and appreciate art.
The membership now includes both amateur and professional artists from Brierley Hill and the surrounding areas.
Many members over the years have gone on to become established professional artists.
