on 2/11 from 17.00-18.00 maybe 15 of us gathered to rmember the civilians dead and each day dying in iraq. in turns we read the names of some 300 children of 18 and below killed by coallition forces. this in part to address the lack of record keeping by us forces of iraqi casualties. we joined a national event with readings in many towns. we struggled with the names, but it did not prevent a feeling of rightness to witness so much young life wrongfully lost. there were clusters of names ages and places as families and friends and homes were hit by shrapnel, bullets bombs and missiles. I was part way down a page of names when i realised they were all killed by a missile attack on al bassra. and remember too that perhaps 100,000 iraqis have died violently in this war, and by far the majority are non combatants. we remember them.
