The Boscastle Busker's Secret Identity

After teaching in special schools for many years, John decided on a total career change. He enjoyed practical work, challenges, creativity and wanted to be his own boss. While still teaching he and his wife Cheryl and three children lived in a caravan on site, and John built a luxury bungalow. He took the plunge, left the security of his eighteen years of teaching in the same school and became Mr Mend, property maintenance.

He has worked all over North Cornwall and is very successful, having built up regular clients and word of mouth is his only advertising. Recently he completed another house while he and Cheryl lived in a converted chicken shed in Boscastle. This house has underfloor geothermal heating with sixty metre bore holes. John is a keen environmentalist and feels that this is the way forward for all new properties, dispensing with the need for fossil fuels
John works on major projects for clients, such as re-building and roofing but no job is too small. At present he is working on a traditional ragslate roof in Boscastle.
