The Vineyard

Visitors are most welcome to this family run vineyard, which currently extends over an area of 3 acres (1.2 hectares), a size that still allows close attention to detail so as to produce high quality grapes.

• The Vineyard was planted in the spring of 1993 after some 16 years of research and experimentation as to which grape varieties and growing system would best suit this area.

Many early ripening varieties are now available to us. Also there has been much progress with the development of improved trellising systems and vine canopy management techniques to compensate for cooler climates, as a result of research mainly in the New World, which is less bound by tradition and regulations.

• A modern approach is therefore employed. The vines are grown to generate a large uncongested leaf area so as to capture as much sunlight as practicable, whilst the grapes are positioned so as to avoid shading.
