Although only an hour and a bit from Glasgow Airport, Glendaruel is a peaceful, scenic haven.

Nestling in the Glen surrounded by beautiful hills the cottages are the original outbuildings of a traditional 18th century farm, renovated to the highest standard using, where possible, original features and items.

Its location makes an ideal base for exploring Cowal, Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, Kintyre, Argyll Forest Park, Oban, Glencoe and the SW islands (esp Gigha, Mull and Iona) plus easy access via one of the shortest sea ferry crossings in the world to the Island of Bute.

There is a wide variety of cycling or walking in the area. We are located on one of the loop walks off the Cowal Way and can provide transport for drop-off or pick-up for walking stretches of the Way.

The cottage gardens are visited by a variety of wildlife including swallows, woodpeckers, lapwings, deer and red squirrels. In the wider area eagles, ospreys, harriers, otters and seals have been seen.

Numerous Gardens, forest trails, and sporting activities, e.g. sailing/boat cruises, golf, fishing (river & loch), pony trekking, quad-biking, are within easy reach.
A RYA approved sailing/windsurfing school is based in Tighnabruaich.

The Kilmodan stones are 1 mile away in the Clachan. The renowned archaeological centre at Kilmartin is a pleasant day trip away.
Iona can also be visited on a day trip.

There is a seasonal shop 1 mile away and further shops, banking etc in Tighnabruaich (9 miles), plus a wider range of services in Dunoon (20 miles).

The local pub and restaurant is in the Clachan (village) and there is an excellent choice of hotels and restaurants in a ten-mile radius.
Or dine in on locally produced venison, pheasant, oysters, scallops, langoustines, salmon etc.

In the season a stretch of river is available free for salmon and trout fishing though please note that the fishing has been extremely poor over the last few years and that a number of restrictions apply.

All properties have oil-fired central heating and double-glazing throughout.

A selection of indoor and outdoor games and activities is available in each cottage.

A cot and high chair are available but should be booked in advance.

We request that there is no smoking in the properties and we do not accept pets.

All fuel, power and bedlinen is included in the rent. Towels are available for an additional charge.
