6/07:
Sky News interviewed Amanda Bynes at the World Premiere last
night:
Amanda Bynes said of John Travolta:
"He's a really funny amazing guy - funny, talented and down to
earth."
But the pretty actress wasn't so
sugar coated about co-star Michelle Pfeifer: "She's Scary in this
movie. You will definitely be scared of her - she's very mean. But
that's her character."
Amanda enjoyed playing the goofy
character Penny Pingleton: "I could be myself - it wasn't like I had
to be a mean girl or anything and I felt very comfortable in that
role."
Sky's website also has a short
video clip of the cast arriving to the premiere, which we have
some caps from in the TV Gallery.
Hopefully as the release date draws closer, more interviews of the
cast in UK shall emerge.
6/07:
Premiere Gallery -
Amanda Bynes attended the World
Premiere of Hairspray in London along with Nikki Blonsky, Elijah
Kelley, Zac Efron and the film's director Adam Shankman.
4/07: A new
Promotional Gallery page has opened.
Top of the Pops Magazine have an interview with Amanda (featuring a
photo of her and Zac Efron) in their July issue:
Hey
Amanda, Hairspray is a funny name for a movie - is it all about
barnets?
"Ha-ha, kind of! It's set in the 1960s and it's all about a girl who
dreams of being on a dance show called The Corny Collins Show. At
that time fashion was all about your hair - it had to be teased and
hairsprayed into being big and bouffant!"
But it's about other stuff as well, isn't it?
"Yes, it's based on the musical called Hairspray and it's a
tongue-in-cheek comedy. It'll make everyone laugh and you'll
definitely wanna dance along too - it's got that kinda vibe."
You play Penny Pingleton who's a bit of a dork - were you like here
when you were at school?
"Penny's kinda quiet and I definitely wasn't! I was probably very
dorky - I was into comics and uncool stuff like that. I liked school
and had a good amount of friends but I wasn't in the cool gang."
You have some romantic scenes with your on-screen boyfriend,
Seaweed. What was it like having to snog him?
"Elijah Kelley is a good kisser but we're just friends so it was a
bit weird - it was like kissing a friend or a brother. At least we
didn't have to worry about bad breath though, we were always eating
minty Listerine strips just in case!"
Now Amanda, confess... Wouldn't you have rather snogged Zac Efron?
"No, and that's the truth! He's a lot younger than me and the
brotherly thing is the same. I've never kissed him so I don't know,
but snogging Zac would be so gross!"
