| | | Christopher Benham became Director of Music at All Saints' in 1996. He has continued to develop its strong choral tradition, introduced series of lunchtime and evening concerts, and has overseen the overhaul and development of the fine Willis organ.
He was born in the Midlands but spent most of his childhood in Norfolk. He was a chorister at Wymondham Abbey for seven years, and it was here that he gained his love of choral and organ music. He continued his musical education at the Colchester Institute School of Music, where he studied piano with Robert Bell and organ with Ian Ray. Here he won prizes for solo and ensemble piano playing.
After graduating he joined the Institute's staff as a piano accompanist. In 1989 Christopher began training for the teaching profession and subsequently took up a post in Harlow. At this time he was appointed assistant organist at All Saints' Church where he continued his organ studies with Michael Frith.
