Aberystwyth Fencing club was formed in early 2001, at the instigation of our club coaches MUNRO TAYLOR and JEREMY WALKER,we also have two trainee coaches,REBACCA JOHNSTON and OLIVER MASSEY,both very good fencers who contribute to the club greatly. A grant by the County Council enabled us to get regular sessions starting at the Aberystwyth TA Centre and now progressing to a bigger salle at PLAS CRUIG LESIURE CENTRE,and we have since gone from strength to strength. The members range in age from 12 - 70 and gender (though we would like to see more women join the club!!). The club has some very experienced fencers,MUNRO,JEZ,OLIVER,BECCA,HARRY and PAUL who all have fenced for many years, but most of us are beginners or at an intermediate stage. We are affiliated to the Welsh Fencing Association. so why are you still sitting there??? come and join the fun!!!PLAS CRUIG LEISURE CENTRE LLANBARDAN ABERSTWYTH 8pm-10pm every thursday novice/advanced any age/gender welcome all you need to bring along are tracksuit bottoms, indoor trainners and a t-shirt Come along and join in the fun : We meet at the PLAS CRUIG lesiure centre at 8pm every Thursday. Anyone is welcome to come along and try out the sport for free for the first couple of weeks. Beginners tend to start with the Foil and then can progress to Epee and Sabre (both of which have very different styles of fencing). Equipment is supplied by the Club but there is fee of £2-£3 per session to cover hall hire. Membership is open to anyone who lives in the area. There is an annual fee to join the town club £15 for unwaged/young people and post graduate students, £30 for the waged We have a very good (and occassionally competitive!) relationship with the University Fencing Club (who have the same coaches). University of Wales Abersytwyth students are welcome to come along to the town club. Both our coaches are Members of the British Acedemy of Fencing, and qualified to coach the different fencing weapons.
