JOB DESCRIPTION Playcare worker

 

Responsible to: The Club Co-ordinator and the Management Committee of Wistow Out of School Hours Club
Job purpose: To assist in the day to day organisation and operation of the club

Job duties
1. Providing full care for the children including delivery of children to school, collection of children from school and the safe delivery to parents and/or named carers. This may include providing refreshments.
2. Providing safe, creative, appropriate play opportunities, preparing activities and organising the programme.
3. Taking part in the day to day administration, record keeping, ordering and purchasing materials and equipment
4 Administering first aid as appropriate

5. Encouraging parental involvement and support of the club.
6. Close liaison with parents, schools and other childcare and play related agencies including the Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership.

7. Attending meetings as appropriate.
8. Carrying out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities framework.
9. Working within agreed policies.

Person specification

Essential for the post

  • Experience with working with 4-14 year olds
  • An understanding of good quality childcare
  • A commitment to equal opportunities
  • Ability to provide safe, creative play.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to meet children’s individual needs
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to use judgement and common sense
  • An appropriate childcare qualification or willingness to work towards an NVQ in Playwork

Desirable for the post

  • Some experience of administration
  • Experience of working with a voluntary management committee
  • A current first aid certificate
  • A current driving licence
