Speeding in Rickley Lane

and Church Green Road

The Parish Council is now seeking to revive the calming scheme originally proposed by Bucks County Council. Meanwhile, Milton Keynes Council are planning road calming and crossings around Rickley Middle and Lord Grey schools as part of the safer routes to school scheme.

A number of residents have complained about the increased speeding of vehicles on Church Green Road and Rickley Lane. The Bletchley Park Residents Association wrote to the Traffic Liaison Officer with those concerned and as a result a survey was carried out on the 4 th. and 10 th August 2000. The result of this survey has been to re-evaluate the classification of Rickley Lane and Church Green Road to a category 4 site from a category 5. The Police have advised residents that, in 1999, the location was visited on four occasions with 15 persons being reported for speeding. The Police hoped that this would result in a marked decrease in the number of vehicles exceeding the limits in this area. Unfortunately but not surprisingly, the traffic calming measures that are proposed for this area are not within the allocated budgets for the current financial year. However, the department will "investigate the issues raised and consider what action may be appropriate".

At the request of the Neighbourhood Council, the pedestrian barriers in Rickley Lane close to the junction with Whaddon Way are being renewed.
