Did you know that Shanks have submitted another planning application?

This revised plan is essentially Plan A in disguise, but has the incinerator removed - with the potential to build an incinerator at a later date. Shanks also want to destroy the wildlife in the Blue Lagoon Park by building on a hectare of it. If this 2^nd plan is successful, there will still be 750 lorries a day filling the site with rubbish from all over the country.

This plant will be the size of Milton Keynes Shopping Centre

and will be the biggest rubbish dump in the world!
MK Council will be discussing and making a decision on Shanks new plan:

Re: ‘Green MK Centre – non incinerator option and/or rail spur’

As a concerned local citizen, I am writing to express my objection to the proposal because:

The inclusion of stated ‘Expansion Area’ compatible with the incinerator demonstrates clearly that this proposal is incomplete and is designed to precede an incinerator at this site. I perceive this potential incinerator as a risk to my health.

The plant will require a continuous residual waste stream for many years, even after the landfill is full. Its existence will make it harder for councils to recycle or eliminate waste.

The construction of the rail sidings would impact substantially on wildlife in the Blue Lagoon area, due to the loss of area and disturbance of sediment. This is likely to affect particularly the rare sponges, which rely on clear water for their survival. The most mature woodland in the park will also be severely damaged by construction works, possibly causing the total extinction the small Blue butterfly in North Bucks.

The construction works and resulting development will result in a loss of social and visual amenity from the Lagoon Park and other sites in this area of attractive landscape.
