Halstan, Margaret (1879 - 1967)
Margaret Halstan first appeared on the stage at the age of 16, in Trilby
at the Haymaarket Theatre. She appeared in a productuion of Beerbohm's in 1897.
She joined the Bensonian's in 1900, then Beerbohm's Shakespearean Company in 1904.
Between 1917 and 1957 she appeared in fifteen films.


Hampden, Walter (1879 - 1956)
Walter Hampden Dougherty came from New York, and trod
the boards with the Bensonian's before returning to New York in 1907.
He acquired the Colonial Theatre in New York in 1925, and renamed it Hampden's Theatre.
His career, on stage and in 18 films, continued until the year he died.

William Hartnell who be came the first Dr. Who,
started his acting career with the Bensonians 1n 1929.

Hignett, Harry Reginald (1870 - 1959)
Harry Reginald Hignett, made his stage debut in Manchester in 1893 with
Frank Benson's company, and stayed with the Bensonian's until 1901 when he left to
go on tour with Mrs. Patrick Campbell. In 1907 he joined Oscar Asche at the Adelphi
Theatre, London. Betweem 1893 and 1945 he was never absent from the stage.
The number of plays and performances he took part in runs into the hundreds.


Hobbes, Halliwell (1877 - 1962)
Herbet H. Hobbes, made his stage debut in Glasgow in 1898 with Frank Benson's
Company. He toured England, South Africa, the West Indies and Australia. He arrived in Hollywood
in 1923 where he appeared in numerous films over a 30 year period.
