The first photograph shows Christ Church, Thorley Lane, Timperley, where many of the descendants of Charles Cilgram are buried. The second photograph shows the gravestone of William Henry Cilgram (b. 1851) who was buried in Christ Church cemetery in 1910, together with his sisters, Hannah (b.1855)(d.1918), Sarah Margaret (b.1846)(d.1919) and Mary Ellen (b.1860)(d.1952).Mary Ellen “Nellie” Cilgram was the youngest child of Charles Cilgram and Hannah Turner. She was born in 1860 in Timperley and died in 1952 aged 94. The third photograph was taken at the wedding in 1931 of one of her nephews, William Edwin Cilgram (born in 1906) and she is shown sitting beside one of her nieces, Florence (Frances) Annie Cilgram, who was born in 1902. Both William Edwin and Frances Annie were the children of John Edmund Cilgram and Fanny Poole.
The fourth photograph taken in 1922 shows (from back left clockwise) Margaret Ellen Cilgram b. 1899, Frances Annie Cilgram, b. 1902, John Edward Cilgram b. 1897, William Edwin Cilgram, b. 1906 and their mother, Fanny Cilgram (nee Poole).
A family descended from Charles Cilgram, but whose surname later changed to Silgram, has recently been discovered and following subsequent research found to be descended from Charles Cilgram and Elizabeth DEAKIN. Elizabeth came from Latchford, Warrington, which is where the family lived for a short time before moving to Gorton, Manchester.
Their second son, Charles, was born in 1889 in Warrington. He married Christina JONES in 1909 in Chorlton. They had at least 10 children, all born in the Chorlton district. The youngest, Peter William Paul CILGRAM (by now SILGRAM), was born in 1926 and married Ellen MOHER in 1950 in Stockport.
