The Barnsley and District Stroke Club was formed in May 1982 as a self-supporting organisation to provide a focal point for Stroke survivors and their Carers. There is an annual membership subscription currently £ 2.00

Our main aim is to give encouragement to members to come to terms with the trauma of a Stroke, and eventually generate confidence for them to live the best life possible in an 'able bodied' world.

The advantage of meeting other people in similar circumstances does provide ideas and thoughts for overcoming your own problems.

We do not have formal therapy activities but simply rely upon members attending our meetings, and where possible join in outings and holidays which automatically engenders a form of subtle therapy to achieve our aims.
