Person-Centred Counselling
Sometimes it helps, when you are experiencing difficulties to be able to talk to someone who will give you their total attention and empathy.
Without any preconceptions or judgements , and without offering advice, such a counsellor will stay with you through all the complexities of your present situation, assisting you to explore your feelings and to find a way through.
A person centred counsellor has no prescribed way of working with you which you must follow.
Instead, he or she will travel alongside you, helping you to focus and shape your individual perceptions towards a more integrated and enabling response to life.
The person centred approach concentrates on what is happening in the " here and now" the focus is very much on the present rather than the past.
Person centred counsellors believe it is the inner resources we all possess and can ultimately draw upon which will enable us to come through whatever problems we may be experiencing.
The role of the counsellor is to help the client get in contact with that energy through the exploration and focussing of feelings and awareness.
An important part of therapeutic growth is the quality of the equal relationship between counsellor and client.
The person centred approach is particularly helpful in working with stress, anxiety and depression.
It can also be very beneficial for people who are looking for ways in which to make positive life changes.
