Michael Caines Cafe Bar, Cathedral Green, Exeter
Michael Caine’s Café Bar is on the Cathedral Green in Exeter. It is joined on to the next-door hotel, the Royal Clarence and the restaurant is headed by the famous chef Michael Caine. Me, Kirsten and an honorary male wot luncher (Kirsten’s husband) met there to lunch. We had fruits of the forest smoothies, which were absolutely gorgeous, and were garnished around the edge of the glass with fresh raspberries and blackberries. For lunch I had a prawn and avocado baguette, which was wonderfully creamy; Kirsten had a fresh chicken sandwich, which was good, apart from the prawn, which turned up in the middle of it; and Chris had a steak sandwich, that came with chips, which was wonderful! The prices were mid-range (£5) and the setting was relaxed and was central to going shopping after the meal.

Grick's Megabytes, Magnolia House, 1 Church St, Exmouth. 01395 270087
A new cafe opened up in Exmouth called Grick's Megabytes. We had to check it out as it had games consoles to play on as well as being an internet cafe. The range of food was spectacular, everything from Mexican snacks, to jacket potatoes and rolls. I had chilli nachos - the chilli was as good as I make, so I was very impressed. Kirsten had cheese nachos, onion rings and a variety of dips, which were great. The whole lot, with drinks came to £10, which we were very impressed with. The setting was bright and airy, and we felt it was definitely a place we could 'hang out'. Highly recommended.

:) Highly Recommended

Becketts, Tower Street, Exmouth
Becketts is a cross between a café and a bistro, and has a cosy atmosphere. They do great lunch-time deals there, a choice of 2 course meals for about £4. I had pate on toast, which was delicious, followed by my favourite, chilli and rice, which was good. Kirsten had a full English breakfast, which she enjoyed. The choice of food is quite wide-ranging and good value for money, so it is worth a visit!

Franklins, The Strand, Exmouth
Me, Kirsten, Emma and an honorary Wot Luncher – Minas, decided to have lunch in Exmouth together. We were quite hungry, so opted for the platters, one sea food platter, and one Franklins platter. These consisted of prawns, spring rolls, garlic mushrooms, salmon, crab cakes and deep fried Camembert, served on a big plate of salad and with chunks of bread. This was very nice, but the portions could’ve been a bit bigger as we were hungry! This was washed down with lattes, fruit juices and cokes. The whole lot came to £25, which was a little steep, considering the portion size. But we enjoyed it none the less! The atmosphere is pleasant, with many Italian dishes on offer and different coffees. This is a good place to hang out, and is also a bar and restaurant in the evenings.
