Keni Robson : Inspirational abstract and realist painter.Artist Statement:
I am currently dedicated to making textured, 3D-like abstract/modern paintings in oil and mixed media on wood. In one of the latest series of paintings I try to let the artworks speak their own voice and add my own emotions and moods to the resulting work. The process of constructing these paintings fascinates me.
As far as imagery, abstract work interests me as much as the landscapes I have previously done, it being the principal subject in my current work. My intent is to interpolate my emotional energies, externalising them into the pieces. Rather than methodically working on a certain imagery, it is the images that appear in my head based on what mood I am in – “Mood” painting. I paint these resulting images.
Biography:
From the age of 6 Keni Robson has always drawn and painted. Starting from copying out of picture books to his own compositions and entering and winning school art competitions. At high school (it is known as secondary school in Scotland) he studied and received a certificate in Art & Design. This enabled him to get a place in the Glasgow School of Art university studying fine art techniques. This lasted from 1987-88. He spent 4 years after this at university studying and eventually receiving a 1st class honours degree in Computer Information Systems.
For the next ten years he embarked on a career in IT but attended night classes to further learn his art trade. He became disillusioned in the materialistic world that his career gave him and gave up this career to become a full time artist..
His mood-driven, eclectic, erotic, and sexual style was gained by Individual studies of old & 20th century masters and techniques and is a refreshing change to the mundanely accepted standard.
His mood & emotions dictate the subject matter and medium from which he creates his artwork.
