Rodnikovaya is a ski base to the south-east of Petropavlovsk. Surrounded by a variety of ski slopes from wide gentle slopes to fierce downhill runs. It is located at the site of natural hot-springs, some covered, some open to the frigid white landscape.

The road winds up to a pass between the Vilyuchinsky and Mutnosky volcanoes.

From here, there's several kilometers of powder snow down to the ski base in the valley.

Preparing to ski, Vilyuchinsky in the background.

High winds lift a veil of snow, exposing the bones of the mountain

We start skiing at sunset, and continue into the night, by the light of the moon.

No ski lifts here, but a skidoo provides the same function where needed.
