This was my first attempt at building a web site so I thought I would have a go, I was not even on the internet when I started this site and now it seems that I have mastered it. When I taped my first John Wayne film (Eldorado) off the T.V,  which I  watched many times, it kind of grew on me and so I started collecting his films. What more can be said about John Wayne that hasn’t been said before, oh hell here goes. In my opinion he was the best actor the world as ever known, there will never be a man like him again. In his films there is humor, ruggedness and romance. Humor such as in North to Alaska with a fight in the mud and a goat, in Hatari with Co.Star Red Buttons, also in Eldorado with Robert Mitchum, like when Cole hit J.P on the head with a bowl and was just about to hit him, when Bull said hold it Cole he won't feel it and Cole replies well I owe him one its little things like that, that makes his films so watch-able. His ruggedness came in the shape of Sergeant John M Stryker in Sands Of Iwoa Jima, as Rusty Ryan in They Were Expendable, as Karl Helrich in The Sea Chase, as John Chisum in Chisum, as Texas Ranger Captain Jake Cutter in Commancheros, as Frank " Spig" Wead in Wings Of Eagles and so on. The romance comes in the shape of Sean Thornton in The Quiet Man, Trouble Along The Way, Without Reservations, Wheel Of Fortune. I know when I watch one of his films it takes me ages to pick one, it all depends on what mood I'm in at the time because I have got over 100 to choose from, I wish I could have met him just once. But he still lives on in the hearts of all of his fans young, old, male and female alike.

I have a good collection of dvd's, I also have pictures, books, plates and ornaments I also have a few belt buckles, I now have the Red River "D" belt buckle bought by my daughter for my 60th Birthday 2002.

The John Wayne commemorative 45. Single action, which as engraved on the barrel the stagecoach and horses from the movie Stagecoach and where the hammer is, is the emblem of the Red River .D, made and mounted on two 45 shell cases.

My son came up with a different way to show the locations from The Quiet Man movie and how to find them, by making a map of Cong village. Using film cameras to show the locations in the village of Cong and Ashford Castle Hotel grounds were some of the locations are situated. With a link from the map to the locations outside of Cong with directions on how to reach them, so this is what we have come up with, so why not stay a while and travel The Quiet Man Trail with us.
