Who we are and what we do

Who...

The group was founded in 1979 by Henry Starnes, who still plays with us and is our President for Life. All the members lived in High Halden at that stage, but we have since attracted members from all over west Kent and as far afield as East Sussex, which says as much for the friendliness of the group as it does for the music. This last term has seen us gain an excellent new conductor - Judy Hollis, a professional musician well-known throughout Kent and Sussex, took our rehearsals last term as a trial, and has now agreed to stay on. The group is also now a member of the Ashford Federation of Arts, from whom we have been lucky enough to receive grants, which help us with things like rehearsal costs.

We come together because we love the music - concerts are a fringe benefit!
