ABOUT THIS SITE
This site went online in March, 2002. Originally it contained the 1870 Memorial Edition of George Heath’s poems, some photographs and a few other related items. In June, 2002, I added the additional material from the second edition of 1880 and in August the facsimile copy of Heart Strains. As far as I know, the site now contains all the published poetry of George Heath. I now hope to expand on this by tracking down the unpublished work, which includes the poet’s diary. I was hoping that this material might have been donated to a local library or museum, but such is not the case. Presumably, if it still exists, it has remained with the Heath family. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I’d be grateful. I would also be interested in any other information about George Heath and the three friends who did so much to preserve his work, namely the Rev. James Badnall of Endon Church, Herbert Wilson Foster and Francis Redfern. I’d also be happy to receive any feedback on the site itself or any comments about George Heath, just drop me a line. In April, 2006, thanks to Shaun Simms, I added copies of the birth and death certificates of George Heath to the site and in January, 2008, Shaun provided me with a Heath family tree, which will no doubt be of great use to all the Heath family descendants around the world. _____ If anyone is interested in why I decided to make this website and my own thoughts on George Heath, then click the link below:
