2001 Review

Before the 2001 season had started Heinz-Harald Frentzen had said that the Jordan Honda EJ11 was the best Formula One car he had ever driven.  It was after that that everything went wrong.  The year started as always with high hopes, but ended poorly.

This was probably the most important year ever for Jordan.  They were now with Honda, competing with BAR for supremacy with Honda.  This was more important when the rumors that Honda wouldn't be renewing one of their contracts when they run out.

Thankfully they finished ahead of BAR in the championship, albeit in the courts weeks after the season had finished.  But the season was a really poor one they upset many by sacking HHF, with no apparent explanation.

For 2002 they need to finish ahead of BAR again.  But by more that a few points, they need to do it convincenly.  They can still steal that Honda contract from under BAR.
