| BAR's
aim for the 2001 season was to finish 3rd in the constructors championship
and win some races. For many, nay majority (including some in
the BAR team) this was seen as an impossible goal.
The team had advanced
a long way since the dark days of 1999 when finishing a race was a
major achievement. But in reality BAR never even showed that
they can consistently aim for podium spot let alone race
wins.
They scored less
points that they did in 2000. Which was probably as disappointing
as finishing behind Jordan (who also have a Honda motor) in the
constructors championship. It was not so much a money thing
(It was form Jordans point of view) but a pride one. They need
to be better than Jordan to eventually get exclusive Honda
engines. Performances like the ones in 2001 aren't helping
their cause.
