Never throw your boomerang in a confined space - the centre of an empty field or sports pitch is best.

Look behind you before throwing your boomerang - some boomerangs travel backwards as well as forwards.

Don't throw your boomerang in strong winds - if it lands way behind you it's time to fly a kite.

Face the wind and imagine this position as twelve o'clock.

Now turn to face about two o'clock, this is the direction to throw your boomerang.

Throw your boomerang with the flat side facing away from you and with the boomerang upright.

Don't throw your boomerang leaning away from you - this will cause it to rise quickly, stall, and return to you in a fast and dangerous manner.

Now, reach back behind your head, bring your hand forward quickly, and release the boomerang with a flick of the wrist to make it spin away from you.

If you wish to catch your boomerang, wait until it hovers near to you then sandwich it between your hands - take care, protective gloves should be worn for catching.
