Life Details

Andrew does not appear on any census. Said to have gone to Russia in 1861 for a year but not returning for 20 years during which time his wife remarried having had him declared dead. Passport issued 1861 & certainly not on census, Edith married William Barnett, also an engineer, in 1875 and had further children.

Life Details
At the true age of 19, 21 on cert, he married in Margate. Soon after it is said he lost the Billiard Hall due to drink and gambling moving to St Pancras where he soon was working at London Zoo. Stayed there to about 1916. Believed to have been mauled by a lion which led to retirement and early death.

Gassed in WW1 but returned to service. Bought house in Wembley 1925 with mother living upstairs until WW2. Opposite to father being opposed to drink and gambling. Died in 1963.

Brought up in "Victorian" household, almost drowned aged 11, went over D Day + 11 moving across Europe providing signal support to RAF airfields. Met Iris in hospital after hurting knee on football stopping him being shipped out to Far East. Moved Southend then Colchester before retiring to Attleborough.
