Engagements undertaken throughout the year are varied, parades for the Essex Regiment Comrades Association, the Royal British Legion and other veterans associations, cabaret shows for private functions, fetes for charitable and local organisations, and even for the Regular Army and Reserve Forces. One of our sadder duties is to provide buglers for funerals where full military honours have been requested by the family. The Corps was formed from the 4/5th Battalion Corps of Drums of The Essex Regiment when it was disbanded in the 1960's. We are closely affiliated to the Essex Regimental Associations, and are proud to wear the Essex Regiment cap badge. The Corps is also a member of the Corps of Drums Society and members are encouraged to attend the Society meetings in London. Members have taken part in such events as the Lord Mayors Show with the massed Corps of Drums of the Society.
