A baby infected ith CMV can show many symptoms and this will depend on when the virus was caught.

A baby may be born with no outward symptoms at all and have few problems. Others will become deaf ( CMV is one of the main causes of hearing loss in children). A few babies will be born with active virus and will be very ill, having blood problems breathing problems, feeding and bowel problems, brain scans may show areas of damage and the head may be very small, there may be a problem with vision and deafness.
