My Cockatiels

The birds! THE BIRDS!!!! *ahem* yes well,

For the past five years or so (since about 1998) i have kept birds in my garden.
Over the years i've had budgies, finches but mainly cockatiels (my favourite out of all of them)
I don't know WHY i like cockatiels so much, i just do. I guess it's just the way they look.

It all started in 1997, not long before my 14th birthday, when my Uncle John bought me a pair of zebra finches.
I'd wanted a pet for ages.
I'd had goldfishes before but they always died pretty quick, which annoyed the hell out of me.
My parents wouldn't let me have a dog, i don't really like cats and my mom's got a thing about feathers, which ruled birds out.

Anyway, before i get off the point i'll continue.
I named the finches Luke and Leia (can you tell I like Star Wars?) we put a small nesting basket into their cage and much to my excitement they started to, erm, well, you know.
Once i started getting 'lil baby finches i was near enough hooked.

In mid 1998 i heard my Uncle Barry (Neero's grandad) had a small aviary which he wanted to get rid of,
after alot of begging my parents they let me have it, a small aviary (3'x6'x6') with two cockatiels and two budgies.
I was happy!!!

After a few months, maybe a year, i wanted to expand.
We (me and my dad) built a new aviary over the frame of my dad's old greenhouse, which was all smashed up anyway.
It was in this new aviary that i first decided to try and breed my birds.

I had two new pairs of cockatiels, following 'The Cockatiel Massacre'

Since then all the finches have died, the budgies have died down to just one budgie, i've built a totally new third aviary, have 22 cockatiels, and currently have around 15 chicks.

Not bad from those 4 birds.
