Memories of our Angel by Andy Meakin
Anastasia was only with us for a short time, yet, in that time, managed to touch so many hearts and minds. She changed so many lives, and brought so many people closer together.
The amount of support we have been given through all of this is overwhelming, and it shows the Love that Anastasia brought to us all.
Her name, Anastasia Louise, translates as ‘Risen again Warrior Maid’. Risen again – well, her love will live on forever, in our hearts and minds, in everything we do. Warrior Maid – in a way, she fought through all expectations, and came home with us, for that one week. The best week of our lives.
Through that week, she knew who her Mummy and Daddy were. She would fall asleep on Daddy’s chest every night, she would receive hugs and kisses from Mummy whenever she wanted. Always content and peaceful (except at feeding times), every moment with her was special.
Our little princess will forever be loved and remembered, she has her own star burning in the night sky for her. Her influence will always be known. We will miss her so much, but be thankful for the short time with her. All the noises, all the smells, every hair on her head, every soft inch of skin, every moment she held our fingers, and every breath she took. All of these things are embedded in our minds, never to be forgotten.
So many people Loved her. So many people will miss her.
Mummy and Daddy miss you forever Anastasia.

The above words were said by myself, Andrew, at Anastasia’s funeral. I wanted to say the words, and managed to stand up and say them on the day. Where I got the courage, and the strength from, I don’t know, but I’m glad I did.
