- IMPLEMENT PAY REVIEW BODY RECOMMENDATIONS IN FULL
The Government must reverse its imposed staged payment of 1.9% on Health workers in England – NHS staff deserve better. The Pay Review Body’s recommendation of 2.5% should be implemented and its future independence and integrity guaranteed.
- END MARKET DRIVEN REFORMS OF PUBLIC SERVICES
Creating competition to drive public service improvements, and allowing the private sector to ‘Contest’ against the public sector to deliver services creates wasteful bureaucracy and fragmented services. It also threatens a slashing of staff terms and conditions and vital services as costs are lowered and profits and surplus maximised.
- END TO PRIVATE SECTOR INVOLVEMENT IN OUR PUBLIC SERVICES
The huge expansion of the private sector includes more that 700 PFI schemes – profiting from NHS PFIs alone by £23 billion – areas of direct delivery of NHS care, running prisons, an increasing role in probation services and involvement in our education system. Taxpayers’ money should be used to improve public services, not create private profits.
- BUILD AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR WORKING PEOPLE
A major investment in a new housing agenda is required, with local authorities able to build the homes the need, 1.5 million households are waiting for social housing and spiralling prices are taking houses out of reach of many working people. Key public service workers can no longer afford a modest home in seven out of tem British towns.
- A PUBLICLY FUNDED, PUBLICLY ACCOUNTABLE NHS.
