Welcome to the 20th Century Warfare and Living History Society.  We hope the following information will provide you with sufficient detail about our society to enable you to decide whether we are the right group for you.

A Bit of History

In 2003 the Heilbron Commando (Second Boer War) and Combined Operations Group (WWII Allied) merged with the 1914-21 Society (WWI Germans, British and Russians) to form today's 20th Century Warfare and Living History Society.  We did so in order to broaden our historical base and to provide greater variety and interest at our events.  Collectively we have many years of re-enacting experience under our belts.

We arrange and attend public and private events all over the country.  One such venue is Murton Park, outside York.  Murton Park is an open air museum which boasts a reconstruction of a Roman fort, a small Iron Age settlement, a Tudor farm and a Viking Age village of some twenty or more structures.  The latter meets the needs of our Great War section for a First World War Russian village, whilst the Iron Age village doubles nicely as a Zulu Kraal.

We also have exclusive access to an extensive wood and two fields, a few minutes drive from the Humber Bridge.  The battle site is set in open countryside well away from any housing.  We have complete freedom of movement across a wide stretch of countryside.

We come together to have fun and to share mutual interests.  We attend a considerable number of public events.  We also accept offers of film work as and when they come our way.  We pride ourselves on being a friendly and welcoming society.
