The internal gearbox components are in reasonable condition and with the excessive play removed from the sleeve gear bearing and replacement of the RLS5 layshaft bearings hopefully the box should now be serviceable. In trying to loosen the mainshaft nut (which had either been grossly overtightened of had been treated with some threadlocking substance) I sheared off four of the clutch studs. The only way I could then lock the clutch was by fitting a handle to one of the clutch plates as shown in photo 6. Photo 7 jumps to June when all internal engine and gearbox work had been completed and it was time to install them in the frame. Up to this point most of the assembly, though not without problems, had been straightforward. I was now however finding the problems of obtaining a machine as boxes of bits. In this instance it was a great help to get from Holland several pictures of the same model but unrestored. These proved really useful in identifying the correct assembly and confirmed that I was definitely missing some vital parts. Unfortunately this experiment has failed in that in did not draw many comments much less help apart from some extremely useful photo's from Holland. Neverthe less I have continued with the project without the interuption of posting reports and now the bike is nearly ready for the road. So to all those who viewed and could have helped Nah Nah Ne Nah Nah.
